Rehoboth Minutemen to Sponsor Revolutionary War Encampment in Dighton
Mark your calendar for the weekend of May 18th & 19th. The 13th Continental Regiment (Rehoboth Minutemen) will help sponsor a large Revolutionary War Encampment as part of Dighton's 300th Anniversary. We expect 200 re-enactors as well as several cannon and horsemen to take part in a Revolutionary War Battle each day.
Thrill to the thunder of cannon, mayhem and musket fire at each battle. If you attended the 2005 encampment we sponsored on Redway Plain in Rehoboth, you know what that is like. The air will fill with the fog of black powder smoke! We invite you to view 18th century military camp life recreated for the public. Purchase 18th century goods at our "Suttler's Market". Join the Contra Dance Saturday night.
We have joined Facebook. Go to Thirteenth Continental Regiment to find more details.
The 13th Continental Regiment (Rehoboth Minutemen) provide an educational resource and further the public understanding of 18th century life through many events in which we participate. We will present a full day "mini encampment" at seven schools in the area this spring. We will be at the Dighton Elementary School on April 9th. We've taken part in the Pawtucket and Providence parades. We plan to march in several other parades in the area this season. We also travel New England and participate in large encampments celebrating the sacrifices of 18th century Rehoboth citizens.
If you are interested in Colonial history and would like to find out how you could become a Revolutionary War re-enactor please stop by during one of our monthly meetings held at Palmer River School, 326 Winthrop Street, Rehoboth, Ma. at 7:30 PM. This month the meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 10th.
